Race Report 4/13/08
New Hampshire Motor Speedway - SCCA

As the '08 season came to a beginning, the PBJ Motorsports crew began to unload their trailer Sunday 4/13 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. For 2008, BJ Piekarski and the team decided to switch their Road Course class to the SM (Spec Miata) class in the SCCA. This class is the most competitive racing series around the country.

In the morning practice/qualifying session, BJ Piekarski came off the trailer with high expectations, but unfortunately those expectations fell short, as Piekarski was involved in a minor incident on lap 3 of qualifying with the #09 car. Piekarski pulled off the track and his crew of Mark Piekarski, and Dave Helliwell quickly jumped onto beginning the repairs.

BJ qualified overall in 19th position out of the 28 car field with a best time of 1:19 seconds. With his work cut out for him, he knew had to get a great start, and move as quickly as he could towards the front. Piekarski and the Hot Laps Karting Center #19 moved up to the 16th position by lap 3 and then was picking up one position a lap until he moved up into the 13th position. As the laps wound down, Piekarski was unfortunately slowed up by some lap traffic, and only was able to finish in the 12th position.

After Piekarski's first time in the new car, they were overall pleased with the day, and look forward to taking it to the track at the next SCCA event.
